Boseong-gun Accelerates Urban Regeneration New Deal Project 추진
650 Million Won Invested to Build Youth Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 17th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it was selected for the ‘2020 Urban Regeneration New Deal Project’ on the 16th and will invest 6.5 billion KRW over three years.
With this New Deal project selection, Boseong-gun plans to create a ‘Youth Complex Cultural Center’ by utilizing an old parking lot located in Beolgyo-ri, Beolgyo-eup.
Since February, Boseong-gun Urban Regeneration Support Center has been communicating with educational institutions (elementary, middle, and high schools) in the Beolgyo area to prepare for the establishment of the Youth Complex Cultural Center aimed at improving healthy play culture and learning conditions for local youth.
The site will utilize underused parking space and will be newly constructed as a four-story building with a total area of 1,800㎡. The center will serve as a complex cultural space for youth and local residents’ culture, leisure, and communication, including multipurpose rooms for cultural and sports clubs, a youth counseling center, a communal kitchen, a cafe & bookstore, an indoor plaza, and a rooftop community garden.
A county official said, “We will reflect the opinions of the main users, local youth, to ensure a substantial project is promoted, and we will consider various ways to ensure the youth center contributes to the revitalization of the old downtown area. We will strive to make this youth center a great contribution to the healthy leisure life of local youth.”

Meanwhile, Boseong-gun is actively engaging in the New Deal project to improve local residential conditions, and an urban regeneration New Deal project worth 7 billion KRW is underway in Jangjwa Village, Beolgyo-eup. The Fishing Village New Deal project is being carried out at four locations: Beolgyo Sangjin Port, Jangyang Port, Hoecheon Dongryul Port, and Gunhak Port, with a total project cost of 35.8 billion KRW.
