LG Electronics Receives Total of 10 Awards
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Leading Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor Company have been honored with numerous awards at the global design competition 'IDEA 2020'. IDEA is an international design award hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and is considered one of the world's top three design awards alongside the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award.
According to the industry on the 17th, Samsung Electronics won a total of 48 awards at IDEA 2020, including 1 Gold, 4 Silver, 4 Bronze, 1 Special Award, and 38 Finalists. Samsung Electronics' 'Bespoke Family Hub UX' received the Gold Award for its design proposing a new lifestyle in the kitchen space through an integrated user experience (UX) of the refrigerator.
This UX was designed to pursue differentiated experiences according to lifestyle, allowing users to share and create photos, recipes, and more via the refrigerator’s screen. The packaging box 'TV Eco Package' and 'The Serif VIS', which applied the upcycling concept to packaging materials, received Silver Awards, while the 'Galaxy Fold', built-in kitchen Infinite Line oven, and 'The Sero VIS' received Bronze Awards.
Hyundai Motor Company also won a total of 5 awards, including 1 Gold. The industrial wearable robot 'VEX' received the Gold Award in the Industrial and Commercial Products category. The electric vehicle concept cars '45' and 'Prophecy' won Bronze and Finalist awards respectively in the Automotive and Transportation category. Additionally, Genesis’s exclusive brand experience center 'Genesis Studio Hanam' and the 'G90 Special Exhibition' were recognized as Finalists in the Environment and Digital Interaction categories respectively.
