View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 17th that Lim Haejong, former Director General of Public Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, has been inaugurated as the 17th president. His term is from today until September 16, 2023.
President Lim graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in Law and from the University of Sussex Graduate School with a degree in International Economics. He entered public service as the 24th pass of the Korean Civil Service Examination.
Since then, he has served as Planning and Budget Officer at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Public Innovation Planning Officer, Director General of Public Policy Bureau, and Auditor at KDB Industrial Bank, working for over 30 years in public sector policy formulation and public institution management.
The inauguration ceremony for the new president was held online and non-face-to-face from the headquarters office located in Chungbuk Innovation City to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
In his inaugural speech, President Lim presented "Back to the Basic" as the management slogan.
President Lim said, "We will faithfully carry out the corporation's fundamental duties of 'gas safety and social value creation' and strengthen our internal foundation while preparing for the future. We will focus our capabilities on inspection, checking, and safety diagnosis, which are the corporation's core tasks entrusted by the nation, to ensure public safety."
He added, "To facilitate the early establishment of a hydrogen economy society, we will build a step-by-step safety management system from production to utilization and lead the global hydrogen economy era."
President Lim pledged, "To realize coexistence and social value, we will review unnecessary regulations in the field of gas safety management and actively discover tasks that can enable collaboration among the private sector, government, and public institutions to create growth momentum in the gas industry sector."

He emphasized, "We will fulfill the social responsibility of public institutions relocated to local areas through fostering local talent, cooperation among local industry, academia, and research, and revitalizing the local economy, leading changes that local communities can feel."
