Seongbuk-gu Allocates 127.5 Billion Won in Supplementary Budget to Overcome COVID-19 and Revitalize Local Economy
Relief for Residents' Hardships Including Hope Job Projects for Local Economic Recovery, Maintenance of Aging Urban Infrastructure, Creation of Safe Environments for Resident Health Protection, and Disaster Contingency Funds
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) plans to increase the 2020 third supplementary budget by a total of 127.5 billion KRW, including 119.8 billion KRW for the general account and 7.7 billion KRW for the special account, and after approval by the district council, it will be fully executed starting this week in preparation for the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This supplementary budget was prepared by reducing event-related project expenses that are difficult to carry out due to COVID-19, and reallocating funds to projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy and creating a safe environment for residents' health protection.
First, 261 million KRW was allocated for disinfection and disinfection supplies support for vulnerable facilities within the district in response to the spread of COVID-19, 212 million KRW for operating screening clinics, 7.197 billion KRW for the Hope Job project to provide work opportunities for low-income earners, and 7.2 billion KRW as a disaster and emergency contingency fund for rapid response to disasters and emergencies.
Additionally, 3.5 billion KRW will be issued as additional Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates to stimulate the depressed local economy and consumer sentiment.
Along with this, 4.737 billion KRW was allocated for the maintenance of aging urban infrastructure to minimize resident inconvenience, 1.4 billion KRW for CCTV installation and performance improvement projects for resident safety, 876 million KRW for vaccination projects to protect residents' health, 230 million KRW for temporary living support projects for low-income households due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and 320 million KRW for supporting the operation of childcare centers affected by COVID-19.
