LocknLock, Winner of the 2021 German Design Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Lock&Lock announced on the 16th that it achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards for all its entries again this year at the 2021 German Design Awards.
The award-winning products are the Vacuum Rice Container, Soma IH Series, and Metro Tumbler, all of which were listed as winners.
The Vacuum Rice Container is a small kitchen appliance launched by Lock&Lock in June, which uses vacuum technology to keep rice fresh for a long time. It features automatic vacuum technology that maintains a constant vacuum state at 20 kilopascals (kPa) pressure, combined with Lock&Lock’s unique sealing technology to prevent rice weevil infestation and mold caused by moisture. It has been praised not only for practically reflecting the recently heightened interest in hygiene but also for its excellent design quality.
The Soma IH Series is a cookware line designed with nearly straight lines, offering a simple and modern aesthetic that was recognized for its beauty. The pan height is 65mm, taller than typical products, making it suitable not only for stir-frying and pan-frying but also for soup dishes. It also has a larger bottom surface area than usual, enhancing cooking efficiency. The handle is ergonomically designed with a circumference of 95mm, the most comfortable size for women in their 40s and 50s to grip, and the back of the handle features embossed processing to prevent slipping, earning high praise for its ergonomic design.
The Metro Tumbler, by winning the German Design Award this time, has achieved a grand slam by sweeping global design awards including the iF Design Award, Red Dot Award, and the American IDEA Award. The judges highlighted its ergonomic innovation and beauty, such as the handle that enhances portability while creating a lively and trendy atmosphere, the double-cap spout that reduces the inconvenience of ice spilling, and the curved body design that makes it easy to hold with one hand.
