Convenience Store Delivery Payment with Seoul Sarang Gift Certificate... CU Partners with 'Ddingdong'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CU announced on the 16th that it will introduce a convenience store delivery service that can be paid with Seoul Love Gift Certificates by signing a business agreement with Honeybees' delivery app ‘Ddingdong’, the first in the industry.
Ddingdong is one of the delivery apps participating in the public-private cooperative win-win network ‘Zero Delivery Union’ organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. It has no separate entry fees or advertising fees, and its delivery commission is the lowest in the industry at less than 2%.
Through this collaboration with Ddingdong, CU will establish a non-face-to-face payment system that allows the use of Seoul Love Gift Certificates from all 25 districts of Seoul on the delivery app.
While online payment with local love gift certificates was not possible on existing delivery apps, the ‘CUXDdingdong Delivery Service’ adds Zero Pay as a payment method, enabling customers to complete payment with Seoul Love Gift Certificates directly on the Ddingdong app.
Customers who use Seoul Love Gift Certificates to utilize CU delivery services on Ddingdong can also receive a 30% income deduction benefit during year-end tax settlement, the same as when used offline.
CU is introducing a delivery service payable with Seoul Love Gift Certificates because the number of places accepting Seoul Love Gift Certificates has significantly increased this year due to government and local government disaster relief funds, raising demand to use them on delivery apps as well.
In fact, from May to August, when the first emergency disaster relief fund was distributed, the amount spent using local love gift certificates at CU increased by 312.4% compared to earlier this year (January to April), and the number of transactions jumped by 402.6%.
In particular, following the recent government announcement to increase the issuance scale of local gift certificates up to 15 trillion won next year, CU has proactively prepared a payment system so that customers can use CU delivery services more economically and conveniently with local love gift certificates.
