Jungnang-gu Issues 3.5 Billion Won Worth of ‘Jungnang Love Gift Certificates’ with 10% Discount
On the 17th, Promoting the Use of Jungnang Sarang Gift Certificates to Establish a Foundation for Community Coexistence and Revitalize the Local Economy
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] “I like buying things with the Jungnang Love Gift Certificate because I can get them at a discount. Moreover, it helps the local shop owners in our neighborhood, so it’s a win-win,” said Mr. Lee, a resident of Myeonmok-dong, Jungnang-gu.
Ahead of Chuseok, Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is issuing an additional 3.5 billion KRW worth of Jungnang Love Gift Certificates. The district decided to issue more after the initial 11.5 billion KRW worth of certificates were fully sold out by May due to enthusiastic support from residents.
The merchants accepting the ‘Jungnang Love Gift Certificate’ are mainly small local businesses in alleyway commercial areas, which have been weakened by the entry of large corporations and the rise of online transactions, thus helping to revitalize these local markets.
Additionally, consumers receive a 30% income deduction benefit, and merchants enjoy a 0% payment fee, benefiting both household and local economies.
The new certificates will be sold starting at 10 a.m. on the 17th at a special 10% discount. They will be issued in mobile form usable at approximately 9,000 Zero Pay affiliated stores in the area, available in denominations of 10,000 KRW, 50,000 KRW, and 100,000 KRW.
Purchasing the certificates can be done through mobile gift certificate apps such as Moneytree and Bizplay available in smartphone app stores. Using the certificates is the same as Zero Pay payments, by scanning or photographing a QR code to complete the transaction.
Furthermore, until October 14, when using Seoul’s public delivery app ‘Zero Delivery Union,’ payments made with the Jungnang Love Gift Certificate will receive an immediate 10% discount.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “The Jungnang Love Gift Certificate is popular because it helps household finances by allowing purchases at discounted prices and also boosts sales for small business owners. We will continue to actively support residents’ use of the Jungnang Love Gift Certificate and establish a foundation for the sustainable development of the local community.”
