Jung Jin-su, NC Vice President: "A World Without Games Will Not Exist in 10 Years"
"Legal and Institutional Aspects Must Also Be Embraced from a Long-Term Perspective"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Jung Jin-soo, Senior Vice President of NCSoft, predicted the future value of games by stating, "In 10 years, there will be no world without games." He explained that just as the internet has become a part of personal life and culture and established itself as an important tool in modern society, games will also become a universal culture.
According to NCSoft on the 15th, Jung said in a recently released interview video commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Korea Internet Corporations Association (KICA), "There are still people who wonder 'why do we play games,' but in 10 to 20 years, there will be no world without games."
When asked, "How will the internet industry change in the next 10 to 20 years?" he replied, "The internet industry experiences changes that take other industries 10 to 20 years in just 6 months to a year, so it is difficult to predict easily," adding, "All the more, the internet will serve as a tool connecting people and play a pivotal role in helping us experience new paradigms."
Regarding the most memorable moment in the past 20 years, he cited the Constitutional Court ruling. Jung said, "In 2012, the Constitutional Court made a ruling emphasizing freedom of expression, which I believe greatly contributed to the significant growth of Korea's internet industry." He also emphasized, "To continue developing as an ICT powerhouse, it is important to consider what policies and legal systems are needed from a long-term perspective and to carefully support the legal and institutional aspects alongside the growth of the internet industry."
