The inspection will target approximately 2,200 electrical and gas usage facilities, including those damaged by the prolonged rainy season and typhoons, as well as traditional markets and terminals where the number of users increases during the Chuseok holiday period.
Inspection targets include 800 facilities damaged by typhoons and heavy rain, 1,050 distribution and multi-use facilities, 150 social welfare facilities, and 200 charging stations and industrial complexes.
In particular, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), multi-use facilities and large distribution facilities will be intensively inspected focusing on high-risk facilities.
Disinfection measures for inspectors and minimizing face-to-face contact will be implemented.
Additionally, self-inspection methods will be actively promoted through public service advertisements and social networking services (SNS).
For electrical and gas facilities, the industry’s voluntary inspections will be encouraged to strengthen non-face-to-face accident prevention activities.
Public service advertisements and social networking services (SNS) will also provide nationwide guidance on the safe use methods, tips, and safety rules for electrical and gas equipment.
This is because the use of portable gas stoves and electric heating devices is expected to increase during the Chuseok holiday.
The Korea Electrical Safety Corporation and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation will operate 24-hour emergency response teams during the Chuseok holiday period.
Through this, they plan to support the prompt resolution of inconveniences experienced by the public due to electrical or gas facility malfunctions.
