LG Chem, Labor and Management Jointly Support Disaster Victims in Special Disaster Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Chem's labor and management joined forces to help flood victims affected by record-breaking heavy rains.
LG Chem's labor and management announced that they delivered daily necessities and food products worth 200 million KRW to flood victims in regions where their major business sites are located.
LG Chem began the delivery ceremony for consolation supplies at the Chungbuk Provincial Office on the 9th, followed by visits to Gurye County Office in Jeonnam and Sunchang County Office in Jeonbuk on the 10th, and Asan City Hall in Chungnam on the 11th. The supplies will be distributed to flood victims in Gurye, Sunchang, Chungju, Jecheon, Eumseong, and Asan, which have been declared special disaster areas.
This social contribution activity is especially meaningful as employees voluntarily participated in fundraising efforts to support flood victims affected by the prolonged monsoon season.
LG Chem raised about 100 million KRW through voluntary employee donations, and the company matched the employees' contributions through a matching grant, creating a total fund of 200 million KRW.
Kim Sung-min, Executive Vice President and CHO (Chief Human Resources Officer) of LG Chem, said, "We sincerely offer our heartfelt condolences to the flood victims suffering from the wounds left by the storm," adding, "Going forward, LG Chem's labor and management will actively work to help local communities in hardship."
