Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital Receives Minister of Health and Welfare Award for 'Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Shin Myung-geun) announced on the 13th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the '2019 Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Project Evaluation' operated by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (Director Jung Eun-kyung) and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency designated 33 regional central hospitals and 190 participating hospitals nationwide to establish an effective response system in case of medical-related infectious disease outbreaks, and conducted this evaluation based on last year's project results.
As a regional central hospital, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has led infectious disease prevention and management activities through building a medical network with 14 participating hospitals in the Jeonnam region, personnel training and workshops, and technical consultations.
Since being designated a 'MERS Clean Hospital' in 2015, the hospital has promptly prepared nationally designated negative pressure inpatient treatment beds in preparation for emergency situations and has consistently conducted training for various simulated scenarios, receiving high evaluations.

Kim Eojin, head of the Infection Control Office, said, “We have led patient safety and medical quality improvement with solid medical capabilities, including being the first national university hospital in the country to receive international medical institution accreditation. Based on this, we will strive even harder to improve infection control levels within the region and to prevent and contain medical infectious diseases.”
