[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Any ideas to completely transform Busan's 'railroad land' that is unused and left idle?
Busan City is holding the 'Gyeongbu Line Railroad Idle Land Utilization Idea Contest' for 82 days from the 14th to December 4th.
This contest was organized to discover ideas for urban redevelopment using idle land in the areas around Gupo Station, Sasang Station, Seomyeon, and Busanjin Station, which have become available due to 'Gyeongbu Line straightening and railroad facility efficiency improvement,' and to revitalize the surrounding areas.
The concept is 'Busan as you say it,' and the submitted ideas will be utilized in the 'Gyeongbu Line Straightening and Railroad Facility Efficiency Improvement Research Project' in terms of utilizing railroad idle land and revitalizing the surrounding areas.
The contest is divided into two categories: a citizen idea event open to all citizens, and a full idea contest for related majors and experts in architecture, urban planning, landscaping, design, etc.
The citizen idea event will accept free ideas on how to utilize idle land generated by the Gyeongbu Line facility efficiency project from the 21st to November 30th.
Various prizes await, including vacuum cleaners worth 1 million KRW for 2 people, air purifiers worth 500,000 KRW for 4 people, and tablet PCs worth 400,000 KRW for 6 people.
The expert idea contest invites free proposals using keywords such as 'Busan redevelopment, connection, living environment, idle land, development,' etc.
Registration is open from the 14th to October 30th, and individuals or teams of up to 5 people can participate. The grand prize for one team is 15 million KRW, with the excellence award (1 team) at 8 million KRW, the merit award (2 teams) at 4 million KRW, and the encouragement award (4 teams) at 1 million KRW, totaling 35 million KRW in prize money.
The city plans to select 212 outstanding ideas from the citizen idea event category and 8 from the expert idea contest category to award prizes, certificates, and prize money.
All submissions will be accepted online only through the contest website, and results will also be announced on the website. Winners will be contacted individually.
