Shinhan Bank and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development Hold 'Startup Genius Seed Company Camp'
Entrepreneurship Camp for Nurturing High School Startup Talents through Entrepreneurial Spirit Development
Simulated Experience of the Entire Startup Process from Business Planning to Prototype Production and IR
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Shinhan Bank announced on the 11th that it will hold the '2020 Startup Genius Sprout Company High School Camp' to nurture youth startup talents.
The '2020 Startup Genius Sprout Company High School Camp' is an educational program jointly organized by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development and Shinhan Bank to discover startup clubs with excellent ideas and nurture startup talents through step-by-step support from item planning to prototype production.
This camp will be attended by 122 teams (a total of 244 students) from specialized high schools, Meister high schools, and startup clubs from high schools nationwide, and the entire process will be conducted online to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The curriculum consists of online startup education over two months from September to October, covering entrepreneurship and business spirit, opportunity recognition and business models, and business plan writing; online mentoring where startup and accelerating professional mentors are matched one-on-one with participants; prototype production; and mock IR. After the training, the top 14 teams will be selected to participate in the 'Biz Cool Festival' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in November through evaluation of the business plans and startup items of the mock companies established by the participants.
In addition, various programs such as mock crowdfunding to evaluate the marketability and commercialization potential of startup ideas and talk concerts to learn the know-how of senior entrepreneurs will be conducted. Through linkage with Shinhan Financial Group’s innovation growth platform, a systematic youth startup capability enhancement platform will be established.
A Shinhan Bank official said, "The Startup Genius Sprout Company Camp will be a great opportunity for young people to realize creative ideas and experience practical startups," adding, "We will do our best to nurture startup talents so that many young people can grow into Korea’s leading talents with creativity and enterprising spirit."
Meanwhile, Shinhan Financial Group is promoting the 'Triple-K Project' to contribute to enhancing national competitiveness through building an innovation growth ecosystem and strengthening the foundation for innovation growth in the financial sector. As part of this project, innovation growth platforms are being established in Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Busan, and Gwangju, and the group operates 'Future Lab,' the financial sector’s first accelerator program, and 'Do Dream Space,' a job and cultural complex platform.
