COVID-19, Jeju Case No. 51 Epidemiological Investigation Results Released
Positive Case Confirmed After Testing and Isolation at Jeju Airport Walk-Through Screening Clinic Following Arrival at 1:30 PM on the 10th
As of 9 AM on the 11th, 15 Individuals Including 11 International Students and 4 Flight Passengers Have Completed
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province disclosed the epidemiological investigation results of the 51st confirmed case in the province, Mr. A, a Nepalese international student who tested positive for COVID-19 around 7:30 PM on the 10th.
Mr. A arrived from Nepal to Incheon International Airport on the 10th and immediately upon arrival in the afternoon, underwent specimen collection at the walk-through screening clinic inside Jeju International Airport, and was confirmed positive by the Provincial Health and Environment Research Institute.
As of 9 AM on the 11th, the provincial epidemiological investigation revealed that Mr. A took Korean Air flight KE1231 from Gimpo to Jeju at 12:20 PM on the 10th, arriving around 1:30 PM with 11 other international students from the same school.
Immediately after arrival, Mr. A and his group underwent specimen collection at the walk-through screening clinic inside Jeju International Airport, then took a school vehicle to a temporary accommodation where he was quarantined and tested positive around 7:30 PM on the 10th.
Mr. A currently shows no COVID-19 related symptoms and is reported to be in good health.
Contacts of Mr. A include 4 passengers from the flight he used upon arrival and 11 international students, totaling 15 people.
According to provincial quarantine authorities, the 11 international students tested negative. They, along with the 4 identified flight passengers, were classified as contacts of Mr. A and have completed quarantine measures within the province.
The epidemiological investigation confirmed that Mr. A had no other movements outside the quarantine location.

The provincial quarantine authorities stated that disinfection and sterilization have been completed for the aircraft Mr. A boarded as well as the interior and exterior of the temporary accommodation.
