Gap launches 'Teen Collection' targeting teenagers
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Gap, an American casual brand imported and sold by Shinsegae International, launched the 'Teen Collection' on the 11th for teenagers aged 8 to 16 who are most interested in fashion.
Following the existing adult, kids, and baby lines, the newly added Teen Collection is characterized by producing all products in sustainable styles targeting Generation Z, who value conscious consumption.
All products in the Teen Collection are made in an eco-friendly manner. The aim is to save the amount of water required in the manufacturing process and reduce waste to protect the environment where future teenagers will live and create a better world.
Additionally, some products use 100% organic cotton to reduce the use of unnecessary chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and recycled polyester material extracted from discarded plastic bottles is utilized.
The Gap Teen Collection is designed for more mature teenagers compared to the existing Gap Kids line for ages 6 to 14. It targets fashion-conscious youth with sophisticated designs that incorporate the brand’s signature comfort and activity while adding the latest trends.
A total of 12 products will be released domestically. The main items include jeans with various washes and distressed details, denim padded vests, lettering hoodies, and T-shirts.
Among these, the boys’ denim padded vest is made using 100% organic cotton and recycled polyester filling. Also, the girls’ hoodie featuring the message ‘OPTIMIST’ is made from recycled polyester material, crafted into a soft and cozy fleece.
Along with the launch of the Teen Collection, Gap unveiled the campaign ‘BE THE FUTURE,’ urging behavioral changes among teenagers. The campaign features four American teenage leaders actively promoting positive social change in areas such as climate, environment, and politics.
Among them are 18-year-old climate activist Jerome Foster and 13-year-old youth activist Mari Coughlin, who call for behavioral changes for a better future and unite in efforts to create a sustainable world.
