The Criminal Division 11 of Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Jeong Ji-seon) announced on the 8th that A (33), who was indicted on charges of abduction for the purpose of sexual assault and violation of the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license), was sentenced to 5 months in prison, ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program, and restricted from employment at child and youth-related institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled for 3 years.
On March 19 at around 4:36 a.m., A met B by chance on a road in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. When B asked, "Are you C's boyfriend?" A acted as if he was C's boyfriend and moved together to B's vehicle parked nearby.
In the back seat of B's vehicle was C, a woman in her 20s, who was drunk and asleep. A was prosecuted for taking C into his own car and moving about 800 meters with the intent to sexually assault her.
The court said, "A took C, who was drunk and asleep, into the vehicle with the intent to sexually assault her and drove without a license. The nature and circumstances of the crime are not light. C likely suffered considerable psychological shock at the time of the incident. A committed this crime during a probation period for a violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving)."
