[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] As the social distancing level 2.5 in the metropolitan area has been extended until the 13th, the end date for remote classes for elementary, middle, and high schools in the metropolitan area, originally scheduled until the 11th, has also been extended to the 20th.
As a result, parents with school-age children who have to spend a lot of time at home are facing considerable concerns.
Meanwhile, various online programs prepared by the 'Junggu Education Support Center Iro-um,' which opened last July, are becoming a hot topic among parents.
Iro-um is an out-of-school base education center for local children and youth, located in Donghwa-dong, Jung-gu, leading educational innovation in Jung-gu through various spaces, educational programs, college counseling, and career experience.
Due to COVID-19, offline educational programs are temporarily halted, but distinctive online video conferencing programs are gaining popularity through word of mouth among students and parents.
Following last month, Iro-um has prepared unique programs in September so that children, youth, and even parents can spend meaningful time at home.
For elementary school students in grades 4 to 6, the programs include ▲Challenge! YouTube Creator ▲I Wish My Emoticon Appeared on KakaoTalk Emoticons! ▲My Own Storybook, Challenge to Become a Storybook Author! ▲Digital World Travel? Becoming a World Travel Guide ▲I Will Know First 'Seong' ▲Elementary Reading Camp 'Because...'
Young aspiring YouTube creators can learn specific content such as proper YouTube usage, channel planning, video production, channel management, and comment crisis management through the program.
Participants can also learn how to create and use KakaoTalk emoticons, storytelling techniques to create stories, and illustration methods to make their own storybooks, including sex education, which are topics children want and need nowadays.
The elementary programs are designed for parents to participate together and are conducted online using ZOOM, so participants must have a smartphone and a laptop (or tablet) to join.
Programs for youth include ▲Learning with Questions 1 'Zero Waste Table' ▲Learning with Questions 2 'Creator Club' ▲I Wish My Emoticon Appeared on KakaoTalk Emoticons! ▲Challenge! Digital Painting Artist ▲Stories about 'Sharing X Education' with Beautiful Store. These are also conducted online using ZOOM.
Those who wish to participate in the programs can register by visiting the Jung-gu Office website.
Additionally, on the 12th at 4 p.m., Iro-um will hold a live online special lecture titled 'Otaku Says' on Jung-gu’s official YouTube channel 'Euljiro Jeonpasa.' Member of the National Assembly Oh Young-hwan will share his story connecting his values and work, from a former firefighter to a writer and politician.
The 'Otaku Says' online live special lecture features stories of people who have turned their hobbies into careers. It previously received great responses by featuring stories from instructor and writer/publisher Lee Seul-ah, and startup CEO Son Ha-bin, who loved traveling, worked at Airbnb, quit due to burnout, and founded the self-growth curation platform Meet me.
