In particular, 1 out of every 4 students attended university for free by receiving a full scholarship throughout the entire year.
According to Dongshin University on the 8th, the average number of enrolled students in the 1st and 2nd semesters of the 2019 academic year was 6,312, and the number of students who received full scholarships in either the 1st or 2nd semester reached 2,483.
Among them, 1,553 students received full scholarships in both the 1st and 2nd semesters.
This means that 1 out of every 4 students attended university for free for a full year, and 1 out of every 2.5 students did so for one semester.
The total number of students who received scholarships at least once during the year was 5,918. 93.7% of all enrolled students attended school with scholarship benefits.
In the 2nd semester of this year, to reduce the burden on students and parents due to COVID-19, a special COVID-19 scholarship was provided, allowing 100% of enrolled students to receive scholarship benefits.
The special scholarship was 10% of the tuition actually paid in the 1st semester, and each enrolled student received up to 426,000 KRW in special scholarship benefits.
According to the university information disclosure by Dongshin University, the scholarship amount per enrolled student in 2019 was 3,809,000 KRW.
The scholarship-to-tuition ratio (scholarship per enrolled student ÷ tuition) was 57.4%, effectively realizing half-price tuition.
Dongshin University also prepared exceptional scholarship benefits for new students in the 2021 academic year.
For early admission general department entrants, those with an average CSAT grade (4 subjects) up to 6.50 receive a 15% tuition reduction upon admission, with benefits of up to full tuition exemption for 4 years. Early admission successful candidates receive up to 2 million KRW in study assistance funds depending on their average CSAT grade.

The Department of Digital Contents offers scholarships for nurturing talent in the immersive media industry, granting from 1 million KRW up to 3 million KRW to those with excellent CSAT or school record grades.
This year, the revival of school record-based scholarships is expected to significantly increase the number of new students receiving scholarship benefits.
Depending on school record subject grades (grades 1 to 5), benefits range from full tuition exemption for the 2nd semester to a 15% tuition reduction upon admission, along with study assistance funds of 400,000 KRW per semester for up to 4 semesters.
