[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] HomeCC, the interior brand of KCC Glass, is contributing to overcoming the COVID-19 crisis by participating in the production of a 'mobile non-face-to-face screening clinic.'
As the COVID-19 situation has become prolonged, changes have occurred in frontline medical sites. To establish more stable medical facilities, several companies collaborated to build container house-type non-face-to-face screening clinics, replacing the screening clinics that were previously operated with tents.
HomeCC joined in the production of the mobile non-face-to-face screening clinic developed through the cooperation of 'Isoltech,' an energy-saving modular house manufacturer, and the construction company 'Miso Co., Ltd.,' applying high-quality materials to enhance the facility's completeness. Isoltech reflected its proprietary air control technology to produce an automated screening clinic in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City. The automated screening clinic produced by this company is the first modular house in Korea developed and manufactured to allow specimen collection while keeping medical staff and visitors separated.
The mobile non-face-to-face screening clinic produced with HomeCC's participation was designed to perfectly separate the medical staff's space and the examinees' flow, minimizing the risk of secondary infection and reducing medical staff fatigue.
The specimen collection area and the medical staff's waiting area are completely separated, and automated equipment is applied throughout the entire testing process, from temperature measurement to specimen transport, enabling a fully non-face-to-face examination. After all tests are completed, an automatic disinfection system for the house is also applied, providing double safety assurance.
Above all, the screening clinic allows free use of heating and cooling systems, and medical staff can safely conduct tests without wearing protective gear such as Level D protective suits, N95 masks, or goggles, reducing fatigue and increasing efficiency in examination tasks.
This prevents medical staff from collapsing while working in protective suits during the heat and blocks the possibility of infection. Additionally, the examinees' space is designed with negative pressure, and the medical staff's space with positive pressure to prevent air mixing. If the negative or positive pressure devices malfunction, an alarm sounds to enable immediate action.
Inside the clinic, sanitary fixtures and faucets for handwashing were installed using HomeCC products, and HomeCC's 'Easy Panel' was applied as the interior finishing material. Finishing materials used in non-face-to-face clinics require water resistance, hygiene, panel surface heat resistance, workability, and flexibility, and HomeCC interior materials were selected as suitable items.
HomeCC's Easy Panel is mainly used for bathroom interiors in homes and is characterized by its hygienic properties and excellent workability. In particular, Easy Panel uses HomeCC's unique panel installation method called 'hidden molding,' which creates a clean space free of mold.
Generally, panel finishing materials use molding, a sub-material connecting panels, which protrudes outward. However, HomeCC's Easy Panel adopts a hidden molding method that is not visible from the outside. The panels are joined edge to edge, resulting in a lower incidence of mold and shorter installation time.
The mobile non-face-to-face screening clinic equipped with HomeCC interior materials was installed and is operating in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, in June. The automated non-face-to-face screening clinic in Gwangsan-gu is the first of its kind nationwide. It was registered for procurement as a passive container house with automated equipment and HomeCC materials applied. Currently, production is underway for delivery to Ulju Health Center and Changwon Health Center in Gyeongsangnam-do, as well as Busan Veterans Hospital, with ongoing delivery negotiations with local governments nationwide.

A KCC Glass official stated, "HomeCC creates spaces where families can feel safe with excellent materials, and there were aspects that could be shared in medical sites as well," adding, "As various social activities are being carried out to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, we hope that the mobile non-face-to-face screening clinic will provide practical help to medical sites."
