Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 8th that furniture sales from January to August this year grew by 41.7% compared to the same period last year, and even in August, when consumer sentiment was greatly depressed due to the resurgence of COVID-19, sales increased by 39.1% compared to last year.
A Shinsegae Department Store official explained, "Recently, interest in interior design has grown due to COVID-19, and the furniture market is also expanding," adding, "Consumers are increasingly choosing famous imported brands or designer pieces even for a single bedside table next to a sofa or bed."
Accordingly, Shinsegae Department Store is showcasing various furniture brands available exclusively at the Gangnam branch.
First, they have prepared 'Poltrona Frau,' nicknamed the 'high-end luxury of furniture.' This luxury brand boasts a history of over 100 years and began gaining fame in 1924 when it was designated as the official supplier to the Italian Savoy royal family. It is one of the brands representing Italian craftsmanship, with signature products including a sofa set priced at 68.37 million KRW, armchair at 8.63 million KRW, side table at 11.63 million KRW, and stool at 2.79 million KRW.
'Knoll,' regarded as a symbol of modernist furniture, is considered more than just furniture but a work of art. It has collaborated with designers such as Frank Gehry and architect Marcel Breuer, and its works have been exhibited in famous art museums. It is a brand exclusively showcased at Shinsegae Gangnam, with representative products including a sofa set at 48.4 million KRW, single chair at 11.7 million KRW, and coffee table at 4 million KRW.
The contemporary design brand 'Edra' is also sold exclusively at Shinsegae Gangnam. This Italian furniture brand features designs that stand out for their artistic quality. It boasts high quality through advanced technology and handcrafted products, with many experimental pieces. Its representative product includes a sofa priced at 32.7 million KRW.
