Samsung Electronics Suspends Operations at Tianjin TV Factory in China for "Global Production Base Operational Efficiency"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics is halting operations at its TV factory in Tianjin (天津), China.
According to industry sources and foreign media on the 7th, Samsung Electronics has decided to stop operating its TV production base in Tianjin, China, around the end of November.
The Tianjin TV factory is Samsung Electronics' only TV production base in China, with approximately 300 employees.
A Samsung Electronics official stated, "This is a decision to optimize the operation efficiency of our global production bases."
Currently, Samsung Electronics has TV production bases not only in China but also in several countries including Vietnam, Russia, and Mexico.
Previously, Samsung Electronics ceased operations at its Tianjin smartphone factory at the end of 2018 and the Huizhou (惠州) smartphone factory in Guangdong (廣東) Province last year. In July, Samsung also decided to stop the production line at its last PC factory in Suzhou (蘇州).

As a result, Samsung Electronics' remaining production bases in China include the Suzhou home appliance factory, the semiconductor back-end processing factory, and the Xi'an (西安) semiconductor factory.
