Financial Security Institute Adopts 'De-identification Processing Framework' as International Standard
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] On the 7th, the Financial Security Institute announced that the 'De-identification Processing Framework' standard, led by the institute, was adopted as an international standard at the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) meeting held on the 3rd.
The De-identification Processing Framework standard includes the steps and criteria to be followed when processing data to prevent identification of specific individuals, carried out in stages (pre-review, de-identification measures, adequacy evaluation, continuous management). The Security Institute developed this standard together with Soonchunhyang University, Korea Internet & Security Agency, and others.

The Security Institute stated, "This is an internationally recognized achievement of South Korea's efforts to protect personal information," and added, "We plan to promote registration as a national standard with related organizations in the future so that the international standard for de-identification processing can be widely used in the domestic data industry."
