In response, Song Young-gil, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out on the 6th, "Now is not the time for Representative Hong to add more words."
On the same day, Song posted on his Facebook, "When Hong was governor of Gyeongnam Province, he abruptly announced the 'closure plan of Jinju Medical Center' citing deficits," adding, "At that time, conservative media highlighted it extensively, glorifying Governor Hong's action as a bold decision."
He continued, "Although it was an issue directly affecting the lives and safety of Gyeongnam residents, no form of public discussion process was undertaken," and "Within two months after the decision to close Jinju Medical Center, 13 inpatients died, and 9 patients who were forcibly discharged also died. Thus, Jinju Medical Center, which had a 103-year history, disappeared. At the center of this was Governor Hong, who succeeded in the 'strategy to destroy publicness.'"
He explained, "What we painfully confirmed through this resident doctors' strike is that we must expand medical personnel and invest concentrated budgets in local medical centers and public hospitals to build medical service infrastructure surpassing general hospitals," adding, "Because a significant expansion of public healthcare is essential to prevent the normalization of infectious disease outbreaks."
Then, Song sharply stated, "Hong Joon-pyo, who has led the destruction of medical publicness, should at least remain silent in this current situation."
On the morning of the 21st of last month, Song Young-gil, Chairman of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, delivered a congratulatory speech at the Peace Unification Forum titled "75th Anniversary of Liberation, Roles and Tasks for Building a New Korean Peninsula," held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Earlier, on the 5th, Representative Hong posted on his Facebook, "Despite the backlash from public opinion, I was the first to see the medical staff strike as justified and actively supported it," adding, "The Korea Medical Association leadership's claim that 'we should break the agreement with the government and ruling party and return to the streets' also has merit, but now is the time for the medical community to unite."
He continued, "If the agreed terms are not upheld, then it will not be too late to launch a large-scale struggle against the government. In life, you cannot get everything at once nor completely subdue the other side," he added.

Then, Hong addressed the medical professionals, saying, "If it were not for you, the medical reform would have passed the National Assembly recklessly like the previous real estate policy reform. Let's all unite to block the medical reform. I will continue to support you."
