View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] As the 10th typhoon 'Haishen' is moving northward, heavy rain and strong winds are forecasted in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions on the 5th and 6th.
While it was initially predicted that its path would pass through South Korea, it is now expected to move further east and advance northward along the East Coast.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 5th, as of 3 PM, the typhoon is moving northward at a speed of 19 km/h approximately 410 km southeast of Okinawa, Japan.
The central pressure is 915 hPa, the radius of strong winds is 500 km, and the maximum sustained wind speed at the center is 198 km/h (55 m/s), indicating it has developed into an ultra-powerful typhoon.
On the morning of the 7th, it is expected to pass between Jeju Island and Kyushu, Japan, and in the afternoon, it will likely move northward along the East Coast. During this period, the entire country will be under the typhoon's influence.
From the morning of the 6th, as it passes over sea areas with slightly lower water temperatures around 28°C compared to its origin, its strength is expected to weaken somewhat but still maintain a very strong intensity of 945 hPa.
Due to Typhoon Haishen, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts 100 to 200 mm of rain (up to 300 mm near Jirisan) in Gwangju and Jeonnam by the 7th.
Additionally, on the 7th, very strong winds with 10-minute average speeds of 35 to 110 km/h are expected, mainly along the Jeonnam coast.
In the southwestern sea of the South Sea, very strong winds and very high waves of 4 to 12 meters are expected until the afternoon of the 8th.
Especially along the southern coast of Jeonnam and island areas, the low central pressure of the typhoon will cause sea levels to rise higher than usual, and there is a possibility of storm surges occurring on the afternoon of the 7th due to high waves.
