Governor Kim Kyung-soo held a briefing on the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the same day, stating, "The province has been implementing Level 2 social distancing since the 23rd of last month," and "an average of 4 confirmed cases per day have continued to occur over the past two weeks."
Governor Kim explained the reason for extending the Level 2 measures, saying, "Social distancing must continue until COVID-19 reaches a definite stable phase."
He also announced that the quarantine measures corresponding to Level 2 social distancing will be maintained, and that a customized quarantine system by region and sector will be strengthened.
Illegal door-to-door sales businesses, which have recently been a major infection link for confirmed cases, are prohibited from gathering in all 18 cities and counties within the province.
Both business activities and participation by residents are prohibited, and attendance at events in other regions is also not allowed.
For 12 types of medium-risk facilities, totaling about 19,000 locations in the province, the installation of electronic entry logs using QR codes will be mandatory.
For the 12 types of high-risk facilities where gatherings are prohibited in 7 cities and counties with many confirmed cases, the prohibition on gatherings will be maintained or applied flexibly by city and county depending on the local confirmed case situation.
From 0:00 on the 7th, the scope of the gathering ban for high-risk facilities will be decided through consultation between the province and the cities and counties.
However, regardless of whether the gathering ban is applied, high-risk facilities must strictly comply with mandatory mask-wearing, temperature checks, and installation of electronic entry logs.
Governor Kim Kyung-soo stated, "Since the upgrade to Level 2 social distancing, no confirmed cases have occurred through religious facilities in the province," and added, "From 0:00 on the 7th, all religious facilities in the province will be managed according to Level 2 social distancing, so all face-to-face meetings, events, and meals except for worship or religious gatherings with fewer than 50 people are strictly prohibited."
