[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections from local transmission continue in Gyeongnam.
On the 5th, Gyeongnam Province announced in a COVID-19 response briefing that two people tested positive: an woman in her 80s living in Uiryeong-gun (patient No. 251) and a man in his 70s living in Changwon-si (patient No. 252).
A teenage male from Tongyeong-si (patient No. 253), who entered the country from overseas, also tested positive.
Patient No. 251 had contact with patient No. 245, who tested positive after contact with Busan patient No. 313 at a family gathering in Uiryeong the previous day.
They had lunch together at the village senior center on the 2nd.
There were no other movements besides the senior center, and one village resident who had contact is currently undergoing testing.
The province stated that related to the Uiryeong family gathering, 59 people (51 village residents and 8 other contacts) were tested, resulting in one additional confirmed case, 24 negative results, and 34 tests still pending.
Patient No. 252 attended a Daegu Dongchunghacho business briefing on the 29th of last month.
He moved separately from the five previously confirmed cases who attended this briefing.
He experienced COVID-19 symptoms such as sore throat on the 1st and was tested at Changwon Public Health Center on the 4th.
One family member was tested as a contact and the result was negative.
The number of confirmed cases related to the Daegu Dongchunghacho business briefing has increased to six.
Among the 26 on-site attendees at this briefing so far, six were from Gyeongnam, all of whom tested positive.
Testing is underway for 149 people, including contacts and those exposed to the movements of the six confirmed cases.
Patient No. 253 is a family member of a quarantined confirmed case who entered the country on the 22nd of last month and had been under self-quarantine.
He tested positive during the test for release from quarantine.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has risen to 250.
Among them, 185 have fully recovered and been discharged, and 65 are currently hospitalized.

Kim Myungseop, provincial spokesperson, said, "Please switch weekend worship services to non-face-to-face formats as much as possible, and if on-site worship is unavoidable, limit attendees to fewer than 50 people and follow quarantine rules."
