[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Jungang Kindergarten in Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk, which had difficulties in operation such as temporary closure due to confirmed COVID-19 cases, has become a famous kindergarten nationwide as it was introduced as a model quarantine case.
According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education on the 4th, at Gyeongsan Jungang Kindergarten, one student tested positive for COVID-19 on the 23rd of last month due to family transmission. Subsequently, all 180 children and 24 staff members underwent emergency mass testing, and all tested negative, with no additional confirmed cases.
In particular, there was great concern about infection among 20 classmates of the confirmed child, but due to strict adherence to quarantine rules such as wearing masks, all tested negative in the release-from-quarantine tests over the past two weeks and returned to normal attendance on the 3rd.
This kindergarten’s exemplary quarantine case was mentioned on the 31st of last month by Jung Eun-kyung, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency’s Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, during a regular briefing on COVID-19, emphasizing the importance of wearing masks.
In this regard, on the 3rd, Lee Yong-man, Director of the Gyeongsan Office of Education, visited Gyeongsan Jungang Kindergarten on behalf of Superintendent Lim Jong-sik to encourage the kindergarten staff who are thoroughly observing personal hygiene rules.
