View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the 4th, 198 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were identified in South Korea. This is a slight increase from the 195 cases reported the previous day, but the number remained below 200 for the second consecutive day.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19, as of midnight, there were 189 locally transmitted cases and 9 imported cases. The total number of confirmed cases rose to 20,842.
Among the local cases, 68 were in Seoul, 55 in Gyeonggi, and 5 in Incheon, totaling 128 cases in the metropolitan area. Other cases included 20 in Chungnam, 10 in Gwangju, 7 in Daegu, 4 each in Chungbuk and Gyeongbuk, 3 each in Busan, Daejeon, Ulsan, Gangwon, and Gyeongnam, and 1 in Jeonnam. Imported cases came from China and Russia with 2 cases each, and 1 case each from Turkey, France, the United States, Brazil, and Ethiopia.

The number of patients who have recovered and been released from isolation increased by 254 to 15,783. The number of critically ill patients rose by 3 to 157. Two deaths were reported among confirmed cases, raising the total death toll from 329 to 331.
