Gwangyang City Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Wage Payment Practices Ahead of Chuseok
Organizing Inspection Teams for Pre-Inspection of 131 Public Construction Sites in the Region
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City will conduct a comprehensive inspection of wage payment practices at city-commissioned construction sites for 10 days from the 9th to the 18th, ahead of the upcoming Chuseok holiday, to protect workers expected to face difficulties due to unpaid wages.
The inspection targets 131 public construction projects worth over 200 million KRW currently underway in the region. A joint inspection team composed of the contracting and ordering departments will focus administrative efforts on checking for any unpaid wages, equipment fees, and material payments.
For sites where wage arrears are suspected, the city will demand corrective measures to ensure payment is completed before the holiday. Additionally, it plans to expedite progress and completion inspections and shorten payment periods to ensure project funds are disbursed early before the Chuseok holiday.
