KB Kookmin Bank and Busan City Hold Opening Ceremony for 'Baesan Small Library'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 3rd that it held an opening ceremony for the 'Baesan Small Library' in Yeonje-gu, Busan.
The opening ceremony held on the 1st was attended by Jeon Young-se, Head of KB Kookmin Bank Busan·Ulsan Regional Business Group, Lee Seong-moon, Mayor of Yeonje-gu, Kim Su-yeon, CEO of People Making Small Libraries, and officials from related organizations.
Since 2008, KB Kookmin Bank has been promoting a small library construction project to build reading infrastructure for youth and enable local residents to use community spaces to communicate with neighbors. In addition, in response to social distancing measures due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), KB Small Library electronic book services are being operated.
The Baesan Small Library in Busan, opened on this day, is the 85th small library sponsored by KB Kookmin Bank. It is a newly remodeled small library to allow comfortable use of the outdated library. In particular, it was remodeled with eco-friendly wood in response to environmental issues, and a book sterilizer was installed.
KB Kookmin Bank plans to establish a total of eight small libraries this year. It also donates new books annually to existing small libraries. Various reading programs such as meetings with authors and storytelling are also supported.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We hope the small library will nurture the dreams of youth and become a space where local residents coexist," adding, "We will continue to implement social contribution programs that support youth growth through 'Mentor KB for Youth,' KB Kookmin Bank's representative social contribution project."
