Team Leader Lee Kyung-jun of Electric Research Selected as Korea Representative for 'IEC YP'
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] On the 3rd, Lee Kyung-jun, team leader of the Standard Development Team for Switchgear at the Test Planning Office of the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, was selected as Korea's representative for the '2020 IEC Young Professionals (YP),' a next-generation standard expert development program hosted by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
The IEC is an organization that performs international unification and coordination roles for electrical technology standards. Since 2010, it has operated the YP program to nurture young (aged 25-38) and promising talents in the electrical and electronic fields from various countries as next-generation international standard experts. In Korea, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's National Institute of Technology and Standards selects a representative YP annually to represent the country.
Team leader Lee Kyung-jun has been active as an expert in the IEC Technical Committee (IEC TC 17) in the field of 'High Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear' based on his years of research and development experience linked to standards, and he also serves as a secretary in the domestic expert committee in the same field.
Through this YP selection, Lee will take the lead in voicing and seeking solutions to technical difficulties faced by Korean companies on the international stage. He said, "I am very pleased and feel a heavy responsibility to be selected as a YP, an international standard diplomatic envoy," and added, "I will diligently carry out standardization dissemination activities so that the opinions of Korean companies can be actively presented in the field of high voltage switchgear and controlgear, which has been led by European countries."
