Deuce's Late Kim Sung-jae's Ex-Girlfriend Loses 1 Billion Won Damages Lawsuit Against 'Drug Analyst'
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The ex-girlfriend of the late Kim Sung-jae, a member of the hip-hop group Deux, filed a lawsuit claiming that she suffered damages after being mistakenly identified as a suspect in Kim's murder due to statements made by a drug analysis expert, but she lost the case.
The Civil Division 14 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Byung-chul) ruled on the 2nd that plaintiff A, Kim's ex-girlfriend, lost the damages claim lawsuit against drug analysis expert B.
The court stated, "We reviewed the facts that the plaintiff claims are false, but we cannot acknowledge that they are false."
A filed the lawsuit last October seeking 1 billion KRW in damages, arguing that despite being acquitted by the Supreme Court of the charge of murdering Kim, B made statements on broadcasts and lectures as if she had killed Kim, causing her harm.
A claimed that the animal anesthetic identified as the cause of Kim's death should be considered a narcotic, but B mentioned it on broadcasts as if it were a poison, making her appear as a murder suspect.
However, the court did not accept A's claims.
Kim, who debuted in 1993 as part of Deux, was found dead in a hotel on November 20, 1995, just one day after releasing a solo album comeback.
An autopsy revealed multiple injection marks on Kim's body, and it was reported that the cause of death was 'Zoletil,' an animal anesthetic, sparking controversy over the circumstances of his death.
