At the meeting, Minister Kim emphasized maintaining a special preparedness posture until the typhoon passes, considering the weakened ground and facility conditions due to the prolonged rainy season and Typhoon No. 8 ‘Bavi’, as well as the growth status of crops entering the harvest season. In particular, he rechecked the preemptive measures in each sector, including the restoration status of drainage pumps and agricultural reservoirs damaged by heavy rain in August, management of orchards and vinyl greenhouse facilities to minimize fruit drop damage, safety management of rural solar power facilities, and strengthening of African Swine Fever (ASF) quarantine.
Furthermore, he instructed to do their utmost to prevent damage to farmers by implementing preemptive safety measures for residents in landslide-prone areas and around water facilities, proactive evacuation, and advising restraint from outdoor farming activities in typhoon warning areas. Minister Kim also urged that after the typhoon ends, damage assessments be conducted promptly and necessary emergency restoration plans be prepared in advance and implemented without delay.
