Energy Economics Institute to Hold 34th Anniversary Seminar on the 4th
"From Green New Deal to Energy Transition"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Energy Economics Institute announced on the 2nd that it will hold a seminar commemorating its 34th anniversary at 1:30 PM on the 4th at the Da Vinci Ballroom of Le Meridien Hotel in Seoul.
The institute has invited experts from various domestic and international fields to provide an opportunity to review energy policies focusing on the Green New Deal and energy transition.
Sung Kyung-ryung, Chairman of the Economic and Humanities and Social Sciences Research Council, will deliver the keynote speech titled "The Meaning of Promoting the Green New Deal and the Role of Policy Research Institutions."
Philippe LEFORT, French Ambassador to Korea, will follow Chairman Sung with a keynote speech emphasizing "The Importance of International Cooperation for a Successful Green New Deal."
A roundtable discussion will also be held between heads of major research institutions and experts from civic organizations. The discussion will focus on opinions regarding the linkage between the Green New Deal and energy transition policies pursued by the Moon Jae-in administration.
The institute expects the seminar to be an opportunity to hear valuable insights on the significance of the Green New Deal and its desirable future direction, centered on issues such as transformative New Deal, green industry, energy research and development (R&D), regional New Deal, and citizen participation.
The seminar will be conducted as a real-time webinar in a non-face-to-face format in accordance with the implementation of social distancing level 2 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
