Korail Postpones Chuseok Train Ticket Reservations to Next Week... Only Window Seats Available for Sale (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 1st that it will postpone the reservation schedule for Chuseok holiday train tickets to next week in accordance with the elevation of the metropolitan area’s quarantine level to 2.5.
KORAIL explained, "To maintain social distancing inside trains during the Chuseok mass transportation period, only window seats will be sold," and added, "The reservation is inevitably postponed due to urgent system work."
Accordingly, reservations for the Gyeongbu, Gyeongjeon, Donghae, and Chungbuk lines, originally scheduled for the 2nd, have been postponed to the 8th, and reservations for the Honam, Gangneung, and Janghang lines, originally scheduled for the 3rd, have been postponed to the 9th.
However, Chuseok train tickets already reserved by seniors and persons with disabilities remain valid. The payment deadline, originally set for the 6th, will be extended by one week.
On the same day, during the priority reservation for seniors aged 65 and over and persons with disabilities, 31,000 of the 199,000 available seats were sold, recording a reservation rate of 15.7%.
Telephone reservations for the first 1,000 people showed a reservation rate of 50.4%, while online reservations showed 14.6%.
