Trump Claims "Stupid Rich People Support BLM Protesters" Conspiracy Theory
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] U.S. President Donald Trump recently claimed that certain forces are behind the protesters who appeared at the Republican National Convention and other events.
On the 31st (local time), President Trump appeared on Fox News and during an interview with conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, he asserted that the protesters gathered in front of the White House on the last day of the Republican National Convention were mobilized by some very foolish wealthy individuals.
During his acceptance speech for the Republican presidential nomination on the 27th, an anti-Trump protest chanting "Black Lives Matter (BLM)" was held outside the White House.
He claimed that one of the attendees at the convention told him on the plane to Washington, "I saw a group of violent thugs dressed in dark or black clothing and equipped with gear." He also said, "There were many people on that plane who intended to cause great damage."
He added, "The money comes from some very foolish wealthy people who do not realize that if they succeed, they will be thrown to wolves they have never seen before," but "they will not succeed." Trump did not disclose from whom he heard these stories.
President Trump also warned companies that expressed support for the BLM movement, saying it was "the easiest path but a very dangerous one."
In addition to criticizing the BLM movement, President Trump also launched attacks against Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Biden recently blamed President Trump for the current unrest in American society, criticizing it as "Trump's America."
In response, President Trump rebutted, "If it weren't for Trump's America, riots we have never seen before would have occurred. The Democrats have lost control over this radical left." He also claimed, "Biden probably never came out of his basement until the polls started showing me doing very well, so he had no choice but to come out."
Regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), when asked, "If you were to start over, would you place Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, at the forefront and center of the White House's COVID-19 response task force?" he avoided a direct answer, saying, "I disagree with many things he says. For example, he said we should keep travel open to China, which was a mistake, and he admits that."
