284 Software Companies with Annual Sales Over 30 Billion KRW... 15% Increase Compared to Previous Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Last year, there were a total of 12 domestic software (SW) companies with annual sales exceeding 1 trillion won. Among them, Nexon Korea and Daou Data newly joined the list.
The Korea Software Industry Association announced the '2020 SW 100 Billion Club' containing this information on the 1st.
Last year, there were 284 domestic SW companies with annual sales of over 30 billion won, an increase of about 15% compared to 2018 (247 companies). The total sales of these companies last year amounted to 74.5717 trillion won.
There were 12 SW companies with annual sales exceeding 1 trillion won, two more than the previous year. Nexon Korea advanced from the '500 Billion Club,' and Daou Data rose from the '100 Billion Club.' These companies, ranked by last year's sales, are Samsung SDS, Naver, Daou Data, LG CNS, Kakao, Netmarble, Hyundai AutoEver, NCSoft, NHN, Nexon Korea, Neople, and Krafton.
The '500 Billion Club,' with annual sales between 500 billion won and less than 1 trillion won, consisted of 10 companies, one more than the previous year. Woowa Brothers, Pearl Abyss, and W Games newly joined the 500 Billion Club. The Korea Software Industry Association stated, "Based on last year's average sales, package SW related to cloud businesses leading the 4th Industrial Revolution increased by 41.7% compared to the previous year, showing the most remarkable growth."

Lee Hong-gu, president of the Korea Software Industry Association, said, "Although the economy was difficult last year, the SW market made great strides," adding, "Stable SW companies are maintaining their scale, and small and venture SW companies are growing, so industrial development is expected."
