According to the local public broadcaster NHK as of 8 p.m. on the 31st, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Japan was 423. This is the first time in a week since the 24th (493 cases) that Japan's daily COVID-19 cases have been in the 400s. The cumulative number of confirmed cases reached 69,222.
