On the 31st, the province announced that a woman in her 50s (patient No. 238) and a woman in her 20s (patient No. 239), both residing in Yangsan City, tested positive for COVID-19.
They are the wife and daughter of patient No. 183, a church pastor who participated in the Gwanghwamun rally.
Patient No. 183’s son (patient No. 237), who was in self-quarantine the previous day, also tested positive, resulting in the entire family being infected.
The four family members of patient No. 183 were classified as contacts and had been in self-quarantine at home.
When patient No. 237, the son, tested positive in the test for release from self-quarantine, all family members underwent testing.
One other family member living at a different residence tested negative but had their self-quarantine period extended until September 13.
The province reported that since they were in self-quarantine, they had no other movements outside their home.
All confirmed patients were admitted to Masan Medical Center on the same day.
As a result, 80 confirmed cases occurred in the province in August alone, bringing the cumulative total to 236.
Among them, 168 have been fully recovered and discharged, and 68 are currently hospitalized.
Among the 852 participants of the Gwanghwamun rally, the number of those not tested for the coronavirus has decreased to 30.
Of the 41 untested individuals, 4 were transferred to other cities or provinces, and 7 have been tested.
The province has requested an investigation into the untested individuals.
