View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Gang-wook] The Export-Import Bank of Korea announced on the 31st that it has introduced 'video interviews' for the first time in the selection process of youth interns in the second half of the year to prevent COVID-19 infections.
The bank is conducting non-face-to-face video interviews over two days starting today for 116 youth intern candidates who passed the document screening and written tests.
On the first day of the interviews, evaluators conducted the interviews via video from the bank's Yeouido headquarters, while candidates participated from the Yeouido Irum Center.
To completely prevent fairness issues that could arise during the video interview process, the bank established a separate video interview system at a different location with advice from external experts.
In particular, to minimize contact among candidates, the bank adopted a one-to-many interview format, limiting the interviewees to one person at a time, instead of the previous many-to-many format.
A bank official explained, "Since issues such as connection drops, audio echoing, and low-quality video due to online connection environments and the quality of cameras and microphones could affect the interviews, we conducted the non-face-to-face interviews under the same location and conditions. This video interview method was a measure that considered both the safety of applicants and the fairness of recruitment."
On this day, the bank also assigned sign language interpreters for applicants with hearing impairments.
