Ewha Womans University Produces 5,666 Graduates for 2019 Academic Year, First and Second Semesters Combined
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Ewha Womans University announced on the 31st that it will produce a total of 5,666 graduates for the 2019 academic year, both first and second semesters. The degree conferment ceremony scheduled for the 28th was canceled. The graduates include 2,376 bachelor's degree recipients in the first semester, 1,012 in the second semester, 1,210 master's degree recipients in the first semester, 816 in the second semester, 140 doctoral degree recipients in the first semester, and 112 in the second semester. Graduation certificates and diplomas can be collected at the respective major (department) offices. Among this year's graduates is 27-year-old Byun Ha-young (Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering), who earned her Doctor of Engineering degree as the youngest doctoral graduate in the second semester of 2019. Byun Ha-young graduated from Ewha Womans University at the age of 20 in 2014 as the youngest bachelor's degree graduate and then entered the integrated master's and doctoral program at the same university. Ten scholars from the Eh EGPP (Ewha Global Partnership Program) will receive their diplomas. EGPP is a unique global women's talent development program at Ewha Womans University that selects female talents from developing countries and provides full scholarships and living expenses for their education. Phan Hoang My Thuong, who is receiving a doctoral degree in Korean Language Education this time, has been appointed as the vice dean of the Department of Korean Language at Dong A University in Da Nang, Vietnam, and is expected to contribute to higher education in Korean language locally in Vietnam.
