Online Communication Forum on 'Water Management Directions' in the Era of Climate Change
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Environment announced on the 30th that it will hold an online public communication forum titled "Asking the Direction of Water Management in the Era of Climate Change" on the 31st from 4 to 6 PM, where experts and the public can interact in real time.
This event was promoted to gather public opinions during the process of establishing the "National Water Management Basic Plan," the highest-level national plan related to water.
The "National Water Management Basic Plan" is scheduled to be established by the first half of next year.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Environment will conduct the forum using a combined method of small-scale face-to-face forums and large-scale non-face-to-face forums.
Participants can watch the live broadcast and join the comment discussions by accessing the QR code or internet site and receiving approval to participate.
At the forum, Hyejin Han, a research fellow at the Korea Environment Institute and the person in charge of the research project for the National Water Management Basic Plan, will introduce "The Current Status of Water Management in Korea and an Overview of the National Water Management Basic Plan."
Water-related experts will give keynote presentations.
Lee Sang-eun, Director of the Water Resources and River Research Center at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements; Seung-woong Jeong, Professor of Environmental Engineering at Chungbuk National University; and Jaeun Shin, Director of the Ecology Conservation Bureau at the Korean Federation for Environmental Movements, will discuss the basic directions of water management in Korea that should be included in the "National Water Management Basic Plan."
Discussion participants will also discuss proposals from the public who participate online.
