◆A 40-day Tour of South America= An essay recorded by novelist Choi Min-seok during his trip to six South American countries from July 2 to August 11 last year. Choi Min-seok backpacked alone through Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. During his travels, he experienced absurd and despairing moments, and each time he shouted "Paciencia (Patience)." He paid about 40,000 won to wash a few pairs of underwear and socks, acting like a pushover, and shed tears of emotion in front of a wandering band in Santiago. He was also overwhelmed with unforgettable feelings in bars and cafes in Buenos Aires, at the sunset on the hills of Rio de Janeiro, and on the beaches of Copacabana. Additionally, he closely examined the colonial-style buildings, traces of dictatorship and rapid growth, immigrant cities, and the culture and life of Latin America, where various races coexist. He shares various big and small episodes experienced during his travels along with 113 photos he took himself. Added to this is a map illustration by Jang Yoon-mi, the illustrator who created the character "Ajassi." (Written by Choi Min-seok / Haenaem)
