Gangdong-gu to Hold Online Play School Where You Can Learn Traditional Games from Around the World

Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will conduct the ‘Langlang Multi-Country Play School’ project in a non-face-to-face format starting this September.
The ‘Langlang Multi-Country Play School’ is a program where children can learn about play cultures from various countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Japan, and Mongolia. World play instructors visit local child institutions to conduct classes on traditional games from around the world.
This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure safe and enjoyable play activities, the world play school will be conducted online.
The participants are child institutions such as daycare centers and local children's centers within the district. Institutions wishing to participate will be provided with world play kits suitable for non-face-to-face activities, and play instructors will teach how to use and apply the play activities through an online platform.
The application period is from August 31 to September 11, and classes will be held twice for 30 minutes each.
Additionally, the district has prepared a world play program not only for daycare centers but also for residents.
‘Everyone Excited Langlang Day’ will deliver play kits to residents who pre-register, and provide real-time play instruction videos through YouTube channels or Naver Band. A total of eight activity programs will be held from September to November, with 10 families able to participate in each session.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “I hope this world play activity will be an opportunity to experience and empathize with cultures different from ours,” and added, “Going forward, the district will prepare various programs to improve multicultural awareness in cooperation with the Gangdong-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center.”
