Gasoline Prices Steady for 5 Consecutive Weeks... Nationwide Average 1,361.1 Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Nationwide fuel prices have remained steady, fluctuating in the 1,000 KRW range for five consecutive weeks.
According to Opinet, the oil price information service of the Korea National Oil Corporation, the nationwide gasoline retail price in the fourth week of this month was 1,361.1 KRW per liter, down 0.1 KRW from the previous week.
The most expensive gasoline price in Seoul was 1,457.3 KRW per liter, a decrease of 0.1 KRW from last week, while the lowest price region, Daegu, saw gasoline prices drop by 1.1 KRW to 1,333.4 KRW per liter. Seoul was the only region with an average gasoline price in the 1,400 KRW range. Other regions in the country maintained prices in the 1,300 KRW range.
By brand, the average gasoline price at Alttul gas stations was the lowest at 1,330.2 KRW per liter, while SK Energy, the highest-priced brand, recorded 1,368.5 KRW per liter.
Diesel retail prices also fell by 0.1 KRW from the previous week, reaching 1,163.6 KRW per liter.
International oil prices rose slightly again this week. Dubai crude oil, the benchmark for oil imported into Korea, was priced at 44.5 dollars per barrel, up 0.5 dollars from last week, and international gasoline prices increased by 0.6 dollars to 48.3 dollars.

The Korea National Oil Corporation explained, "International oil prices have risen slightly and are showing a firm trend due to factors such as a decrease in U.S. crude oil inventories and production disruptions in the Gulf of Mexico caused by hurricanes."
