Regional Cases Concentrated in the Capital Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] On the 29th, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 323. It recorded over 300 cases for the second consecutive day.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that as of midnight, 308 new domestic cases and 15 imported cases were confirmed. The total cumulative number of confirmed cases was counted at 19,400 (2,797 imported cases).
The number of newly released from isolation was 214, bringing the total released to 14,765 (76.11%). Currently, 4,314 people remain in isolation. There are 64 patients in severe or critical condition. The number of deaths increased by 5, bringing the total deaths to 321 (fatality rate 1.65%).

Regarding domestic cases by region, new confirmed cases were concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area with 124 in Seoul, 100 in Gyeonggi, and 20 in Incheon. Following were Gwangju with 14, Gyeongnam with 12, Jeonnam with 9, Chungnam with 8, and Chungbuk with 6. Busan and Daegu each reported 5 cases, Daejeon 4, and Jeju 1.
