Ju Ho-young "We Must Form a Judicial Oversight Special Committee to Prevent Privatization of Prosecutorial Power"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the United Future Party, said, "The regime's control over the prosecution has been completed," and added, "A special judicial oversight committee must be formed to prevent the privatization of prosecutorial power."
On the 28th, through Facebook, Floor Leader Joo commented on the mid-level prosecutor personnel changes made the previous day, stating, "This regime clearly showed how those loyal to the regime are rewarded."
He said, "At first, I thought it was just about 'weakening Yoon Seok-yeol,' but from appointments at the prosecutor general level to mid-level personnel and ordinary prosecutors, they seem ready to even have group loyalty pledges in front of the Blue House if necessary," adding, "This regime is attempting to line up the entire South Korean prosecution neatly before power."
Floor Leader Joo pointed out, "Jung Jin-woong, chief of the Criminal Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, who tried to involve Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon in the so-called 'prosecutor-media collusion' case, was promoted to deputy chief at the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, while Jung Jin-gi, head of the Inspection Division at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office who was investigating him, was transferred to the Daegu High Prosecutors' Office as a prosecutor," and added, "The heads of the Criminal Division 6 and Public Investigation Division 2 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, who were investigating the 'Yoo Jae-soo inspection cover-up suspicion case' and the 'Ulsan mayoral election interference Blue House directive investigation suspicion case,' were transferred to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office and Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, respectively."
He continued, "Jin Hye-won, deputy chief prosecutor at the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, who mocked the victim by posting a photo of the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon on her social network service (SNS) and unexpectedly posted a photo of First Lady Kim Jung-sook, praising her as 'genuine and pure,' was suddenly assigned to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office to investigate the 'Chu Mi-ae (Minister of Justice) son suspicion case.'"
Floor Leader Joo emphasized, "The prosecution has completely become the property of this regime," and added, "if the judicial system, one pillar of state power, is shaken, then at least the legislative branch, the National Assembly, must step in to form a special judicial oversight committee and correct the absurdities and irrationalities shaking the judicial system."
