Nowon-gu Captures Illegal Door-to-Door Sales Event on CCTV Video Patrol
On the 21st, Illegal Door-to-Door Sales Event Dispersed After Being Captured by CCTV Video Patrol... Full Efforts to Prevent COVID-19 Spread in the Area Following Social Distancing Level 2 Upgrade
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) detected an illegal door-to-door sales event through CCTV video patrols and promptly dispersed the gathering, preventing the spread of COVID-19 in advance.
As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area sharply increased starting August 15, the incident occurred on August 21.
Around 9 a.m., a control operator conducting a CCTV video patrol spotted groups of elderly people in their 70s and 80s gathering in threes and fives and entering a specific building.
Based on extensive monitoring experience, the operator sensed the situation was illegal and closely monitored the scene. Judging it to be a door-to-door sales event targeting the elderly, the operator reported it to the 112 emergency call center and relayed the situation.
The police, responding to the report, arrived at the scene within three minutes, dispersed about 50 elderly people gathered at the sales event, and issued on-site guidance to the event organizer.
The district announced that in the current situation, where there is a high possibility of secondary transmission due to religious facilities and mass infections from the Gwanghwamun rallies, it achieved a proactive prevention of infectious disease spread by preemptively blocking gatherings targeting elderly people with weakened immunity.
Following the elevation to social distancing level 2, on the 21st, the district completed posting prohibition orders on 12 types of high-risk facilities including karaoke rooms, PC cafes, and entertainment establishments. Inspection teams have been formed to operate checks on these facilities, and unannounced nighttime inspections will be conducted at entertainment venues.
Additionally, to prevent confirmed cases in religious facilities such as churches, on the 23rd, on-site inspections were conducted at 347 churches in the area. For the 15 churches that held on-site worship services, immediate dispersal and on-site guidance measures were taken. Churches found violating rules again during next week’s inspections will be subject to immediate closure orders and legal action.
Moreover, starting at 8 a.m. on the 24th, the district began measuring the temperatures of employees entering the government office building. The 19 community service centers conduct temperature checks by district, and branch offices are monitored by the public health center. Fever screening for visitors will also shift from thermal cameras to one-on-one temperature measurements, strengthening the quarantine system at the district office.

District Mayor Oh Seung-rok stated, “If even a single infection case occurs within the government office, our public service functions could be paralyzed, and the entire COVID-19 prevention system could be disrupted.
