Suwon City to Intensify Crackdown on Old Diesel Vehicles Starting September
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province is cracking down on the operation of 'old diesel vehicles.'
Suwon City announced on the 28th that starting next month, it will issue 'violation notices' to vehicles that violate regulations in order to reduce emissions from 'old diesel vehicles,' which are one of the major sources of air pollutants, and from October, it will impose fines.
The crackdown targets old diesel vehicles (Grade 5) that exceed the emission standards. However, vehicles classified as Grades 1 to 4 by the Ministry of Environment are excluded.
The city will conduct the crackdown using 15 unmanned enforcement cameras installed at eight locations in Suwon, including the Gwanggyo-ro Samgeori intersection.
For vehicles violating the regulations once, the city will send a violation notice, and for vehicles violating more than twice (detected after 30 days following the first warning), a fine of 200,000 KRW will be imposed.
