John Lennon Murderer Chapman Denied Parole Request for the 11th Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Mark David Chapman (65), who killed Beatles member John Lennon, has had his parole request denied for the 11th time, CNN reported on the 27th (local time).
Chapman shot and killed Lennon in front of Lennon's residence in Manhattan, New York, on December 8, 1980.
Chapman was sentenced to life imprisonment. However, he was eligible to request parole after serving 20 years of his sentence (20 years-to-life prison sentence). Since becoming eligible in 2000, Chapman has persistently requested parole but has been denied each time.
CNN reported that Chapman must serve at least two more years and that the next time he can request parole is August 2022.
